Eating habits affect snoring (avoid fatty meals and chocolate or milk right before sleep)
Smoking can cause snoring
I would say get earplugs for yourself if the other solutions do not work.

Get those strips that he can wear over his nose at night, breathe right is what I think they are called, you can get them at your local grocery or drug store...good luck, oh tell him to sleep on his side, not on his back, that may help as well..

My gal is a VERY light sleeper, and I have a perforated septum and snore like a buzzsaw. I wear Breathe Right strips--and so should both of you.

well i know some small dogs with a squished snout(eg. a pug) tend to snore because there snout is so small they have trouble inhaling.
Other than that im not really sure...blocked nose maybe? :)

try sleeping on your side.
you can buy snore nose strips (im not sure). you place them on top of your nose like a band aid.
you can buy mouth piece that will stop you from snoring
go to a sleep clinic.

Naturally, obesity is one of the reasons for snoring. If the person is coughing when eating, it could be due to allergy or the in taken food is irritating the throat while swallowing.
