Is it normal for pit bull puppies to snore?

Question by pmpkin_23: Is it normal for pit bull puppies to snore?
I recently got a pit bull puppy who snores everytime she sleeps. She plays with my other pit puppy fine. I just don't know if her anoring is normal or not. I am just wondering if this is a common thing with pits.

I am not sure, but just wanted to comment because it sounds cute! I don't know why though, it's not when people do it.

  2. Very normal. lol Get used to it.

*Cheerbaby, that's ignorant. No matter how much you gussy them up they're still a pit, pit bull, or APBT if you want to be technical. I'm proud of my pits! (Yes I said PITS! *gasp* ) There's nothing insulting. It's part of their breeds name and a common nickname. APBT's are great dogs no matter what you call them.*

  4. I have two pit bull puppies who are 9 weeks old. When they are sleeping in their kennel, they roll onto their backs and sometimes snore when they are exhausted from playing outside with me. It sounds so cute, sometimes they bark in their dreams.. even howl. :-)

  5. YES!!! LOL my daughter got up in the middle of the night last night and asked me to tell my husband to stop snoring because it scared her- she thought it was monsters. I told her it was Daisy, our pittie, and she said "Well tell her to stop it and be quiet!" :)

It is common, they are a "short-muzzle" breed. I didn't know that until I looked up taking dogs on airplanes, and they have certain restrictions with short muzzled dogs. AmStaffs were on the list!

BUT to be safe, make sure you are using an allergy-free puppy food, without corn, wheat, beef, and fillers because those are likely to cause allergies. You can also buy benadryl for dogs at pet stores, liver flavored to see if he has seasonal allergies!

  6. It is perfectly normal for your puppy to snore. Some breeds it's more common for than others, especially "bull" breeds. My mastiff and my bulldog both snore!

  7. My friends pit used to snore ALL THE TIME.
And it really kept us up because he would sleep right next to us.
    He's such a baby :)

I'd say it's pretty common. Now that he's grown, he makes alot of grunting noises like a pig too :)

  9. Snoring can be normal for some pets. The next time that your pet is examined by a veterinarian, make mention of this. Have your pet checked for stenotic nares. If it turns out that she does, this can be surgically fixed and it will cut down on her snoring. Good luck.
