Why am I snoring so loudly lately and how do I stop it ?

Question by Midnight: Why am I snoring so loudly lately and how do I stop it ?
I just started snoring loudly. I have always snored some, but now it is to the point where I have to sleep alone. It just started less than a week ago. Out of nowhere. I would love to know what caused it and better yet, I would love to know how to make it go away.

  3. You may have gained a few pounds and that is a cause. You may also have changed your body position when sleeping. Sleeping flat on your back may be causing it. Also you are more likely to snoore after having a drink or two/three before bed.

Two suggestions is to make sure your sleeping on your side and no alcohol before bed. The sewing of a tennis ball to the back of the shirt you wear to bed breaks that habit if its new.

Finally, you may just have a stuffed up nose and you are breathing through your mouth. The nose strips might also help.

It helped me to try to sleep with my mouth closed, while losing weight, and sleeping on side.

  4. You can buy special tape that goes across the bridge of your nose that helps the passage of air flow, thus resulting in less snoring.

Available at most chemists, Superdrug / Boots etc

  7. Sound like it might be Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). See the doctor. The doctor will likely refer you to a Respiratory or Sleep Specialist. They will do a Sleep Study to find out exactly what is going on. The condition is manageable. See the link to learn more.

    I have OSA.

  8. I would like to suggest two ways to stop snoring which may solve your snoring problems.

    Stop snoring remedy #1

If you are a smoker, I would suggest you quit smoking because a huge number of smokers do snore. Many people who have quit smoking, have also been able to cure snoring.

Not only will this cure snoring, there are obvious health benefits to kicking the habit. Reducing snoring is not the best benefit of quitting smoking. You will drastically reduce your chances of getting cancer, your heart will be healthier and your lungs will no longer be black, and you will not have that awful smell linger around. You will have more energy and obviously you will be better rested because you were able to stop snoring. Then if smoking was the cause of your snoring, you have effectively solved two of your problems, and just think of all that extra money you will also have. Good for you. Now if smoking does not apply to you, then forget I mentioned it.

    Stop snoring remedy #2

Perhaps the solution could be as simple as dropping a few pound. We also know that many overweight people snore, which can be very embarrassing especially if you are a woman and your husband makes fun of you in front of his buddies. If you lose a few pound, and stop snoring you will be happier and healthier, and your husband will have to find a new subject for his jokes. You will also feel proud that you found an effective way to cure snoring, and you will gladly suggest it to your friends, especially the ones with snoring husbands.

Do not lose another night of sleep, nudging your partner to turn over all night. Snoring affects about 45% of the adult population, preventing a good night sleep for millions of people. It is unhealthy to not get proper rest, night after night. Learn ways to stop snoring! Or better yet cure snoring. Do yourself a favor and end your snoring problems tonight! Cure Snoring

    #using these things......
    Nasal Passage Lubrication
When the nasal passage is getting vibrated, snoring occurs and this is one of the reasons behind snoring. If you suffer from cold or any kind of nasal block, you breathe through mouth and you keep your mouth open. This allows the vibrations of tissues to escape through opened mouth and as a result loud noise is created. If you use some uncomfortable snoring devices that would remind you from sleeping on your stomach and keep your mouth closed, you will suffer from this problem continuously.

    Nasal Separator
There are various types of stop snoring devices and nasal separator is a small device that is used to keep the nasal passage wide open. This has to be fit into both the nostrils and they help them to be lifted outside. Hence, nasal passage is widened. If the air flows easily through a way, then there is no chance of vibration and it reduces snoring. This is somewhat like nose plug and it works not to block nasal passage but to widen the same.

    Stop Snoring Pillows
It is better for the snorers to use pillows in between the legs while sleeping on their side. Sleep on your side and this posture helps you to keep your mouth closed and sound created by the vibrating tissues will be stopped within the closed mouth itself. This will not let the bed partner to miss her or his sleep. Utilize this easiest way to stop snoring and enjoy the benefit. You need not spend much money on this device as it is very inexpensive.

All the above suggested stop snoring devices are highly inexpensive and you can find them easily on the market. Expensive devices are also available in the market and those who are not getting proper result out of these devices may try the expensive ones that are purchasable in the pharmacies.

  9. You could have sleep apnea, a condition where you actually stop breathing during your sleep. For this you would have to see your doctor and have him refer you to a sleep clinic for testing. It could also be as simple as having your tonsils out. Whatever it is, seeing your doctor would be the best thing to do.
Nasal strips could work, but not if your problem is more serious. Good luck, and take action, because snoring could be a symptom of something that needs to be treated.

  10. avoid laying on your back.

Try nose strips, laying on your side and there are some linen sprays and bed sprays that help you breathe more easily.
