How do I stop my husband from intense snoring?

Question by alli_cat357: How do I stop my husband from intense snoring?
He already uses breathe right strips with absolutely no relief and we have tried different body positions while sleeping with no avail.
Can anyone provide some options for stopping the snoring so I can finally get some sleep?

You should have him schedule an appointment with his family doctor, and ask them to refer him onto a respirologist. This doctor will assess him for a condition called sleep apnea. This is when there is often very intense snoring, and one of the common signs of this ailment are the partners being bothered from their sleep. They will give him a sleep test that he will either have to do a sleep lab at a hospital or they will give him a home test that he is able to do at home. I hope that this helps you.

  1. make him lay on his side, if he still snores, try the doctor.

  2. Use the tennis ball trick. Place tennis ball behind his back so that he can't turn over. It wil force him to sleep on his side which will reduce snoring. He should also try using a humidifier and avoiding all dairy products. Dairy increases congestion in many people which then contributes to snoring at night.

It is worth your while to try to get him tio stop snoring. Snoring has been linked with a 67% increased risk of stroke, according to research.
