Question by shi b: What do you do if your partner snores?
I moved in with my boyfriend and we are supposed to get married soon. However there is a problem. He snores and real loud too such that i have a hard time falling asleep. I mentioned it to him once but he thought i was joking. Is there a way of curing this and how do i tell him gently that it's affecting my sleep and get him to seek help?

  1. it's best to get him to seek help with snoring, snoring can be an indication of something wrong in his body. There are ways to cure that.

  2. Tell him that you are very serious. Ask that he go see a doctor about his snoring and get him either the throat spray or the nose strips depending on if he snores through his mouth or nose.

  3. Let him know that this is a real problem...and as gently as you can...tell him that he HAS to seek help before you can agree to marry him. He might think that you're joking, or being mean, but tell him to put himself in your shoes. Marriage shouldn't have to mean that you're destined for terrible sleep for the rest of your married life.

Maybe before giving him this schpeel, try Breathe-right strips, first. I've never tried them, but they're supposed to alleviate snoring.

Good luck! I know your pain!

  4. My husband has asthma and if it's acting up he snores a lot. I usually try to move him a little and he'll stop, but also you'll get used to it

  5. I always shake my husband awake and tell him to roll on his right side, he doesn't snore when he sleeps that way, its finding the right trick. My friend pulls her husband's chest hair (not out) and he'll stop snoring. But other people are right, have him get checked for sleep apnea if he acknowledges it is a problem. Thats the hard part, getting them to realize that it is a problem.

  6. Snoring has become a major factor in the cause of divorce. Think about separate rooms one day. Is he over weight? Have him see his doctor for it.

  7. I had that problem with my husband and sometimes I moved out of the room or he did to be able to sleep right. Then I bought some products from this company named NIKKEN, a japanese company that sells high technology products to release stress and mantain your body healthy by water and air filters and sleeping products. They all carry magnetic waves which help you out for a variety of problems. Well, I first bought the pillow which helped his respiratory system, all through the magnets, and in two days stopped snoring. Best solution ever!
I became a distributor a couple of months ago because their products are amazing and I decided to sell them. If you need more info send me an email: jennyqconde@hotmail.com Love to help you out.

  8. I have that same problem with my husband. I kick my husband out because he sounds like an animal. My husband also farts and the smell is so bad that I feel like I am going to pass out. The snoring and farting was driving me crazy. He is Mr. couch potato now.. He left me no choice, he has to sleep on the couch because I need to sleep so that I could take care of business the next day. Get your boyfriend some help because it is not normal. My husband refuses to get help because he said that he does not have a problem. Good Luck!!!!

  10. when I first got married- I couldn't fall asleep because my husband snores. I would usually just rub his back- and he'd stop. the other day though, he went away on a business trip and I could NOT fall asleep because it was too quiet! I guess I just got used to it. :) Now I need his snore to fall asleep- lol!

  11. My spouse snores so loud it rattles the windows. After numerous sleepless nights he started sleeping on the couch, well let me tell ya that does a number on your sex life. I didn't get married to sleep alone.

After researching snoring causes we made an appointment with his doctor who sent him to a sleep clinic, guess what, he has severe sleep apena which can be hard on the heart.

He now has a CPAP breathing machine and doesn't snore when it's worn. He feels much better too. The machine is not noisy and doesn't affect my ability to sleep or our need to cuddle or spoon during the night.
