How to make my husband stop snoring?

Question by that: How to make my husband stop snoring?
My husband snores so loud that I can't sleep. We haven't slept in the same bed/room in over a year because of this. Nothing helps, we tried breathe right strips and they did nothing. Does anyone have any ideas? I can even hear him snoring when he sleeps in the living room. I'm desperate, here.

ear plugs for you.
surgery for him.

If that doesnt work, grab a pillow, go to where he is sleeping, slowly put it over his face, and press down until he stops moving. Ive found a temperpaedic pillow works best as it conforms to the face.

  1. Snoring generally stems from the lower jaw relaxing and restricting the airway down the throat, particularly if he sleeps on his back. Get him to sleep on his side or stomach may reduce the problem. Alcohol can aggravate the problem with deeper sleep and more relaxed muscles etc.,

magoo is correct. Snoring can also be aggravated by untreated allergies or smoking.

If he smokes, try to get him to stop. Also encourage him to experiment with taking a dyphenhydramine (benadryl) before going to bed.

  3. Breathe Right strips won't really help someone stop snoring. They might help a person breathe more efficiently, but they don't cure snoring.

Snoring (if it's not caused by sleep apnea) is caused by vibration in the back of the throat. You can stop snoring by doing something to open up the airway in the throat so it doesn't vibrate when you breathe.

There are a few different stop snoring devices that can help your husband with this. The trick is to find the one that is the most comfortable and the easiest to use so he actually WANTS to use it every night. The snoring device can't be worse than the snoring itself.

Have him start with the one that's the easiest (I recommend starting with the spray). Then if that doesn't work, try another one (maybe a pillow or a mouthpiece). There's a good website below with some good information about these devices, including where to get them.
