You see, there's this wonderful thing called a "cork", perhaps you've heard of it...

No but seriously, I've heard there are these things, forgot what they're called, like, a brace of some sort that you put in your lower mouth that causes your jaw to extend forward a bit while you're sleeping and it stops the vibration going on in the back of your throat that is a person's snoring.

    Argh, can't remember what it's called :(

  6. First, have him go to the doctor to see if there is something physically wrong. Sometimes people with sleep apnea snore and there can also be other physical conditions that cause it.

If that isn't it, see if having him turn over helps. There are so many over-the-counter things that are supposed to stop snoring. I heard a commentator with a radio program say he bought one of those mouth pieces you warm in water and then shape in your mouth and he was able to sleep with it in. I don't know if I could stand something like that, but some people can.

It can be a serious problem if he is having breathing problems or if you can't get a rested sleep.

  7. Try the tennis ball trick. Put a tennis ball in a sock and pin it to the back of his shirt. Many people who snore do so while sleeping on their backs. The tennis ball will nudge him back on to his side if he rolls over at night. Also, many people snore because of undiagnosed allergies. Use a humidifier at night to ease his congestion, and decrease snoring. Whatever you do to help him stop snoring, it's worth it. Heavy snoring has been linked with a 67% increased risk of stroke.

  8. I use a product called Slumber Guard which holds the jaw in a forward position whilst sleeping - it keeps the airways open that way.

It uses the same principles as what doctors use to treat snoring, and only costs a fraction of the price.
